The Azure Imperium, colloquially known as the Azuri Empire, was an early interplanetary empire centered primarily in the Axum system between the twin planets of Axum and Anaxes. The Imperium had once rivaled Coruscant in political theatre for centuries until its fracture at the hands of a series of devastating climate disasters and political defeats.
Most of the government collapsed on itself due to infighting and infrastructural damage, ultimately leaving the "broken 'prized star system'" at the doorstep of Coruscanti influence. Most of the territory held by the empire was absorbed by the Galactic Republic, a number of which became member worlds.
History[]
A dozen human colonist sleeper ships from the Corusca sector arrived to Axum sometime after 27,500 BBY. These human colonists– comprised of all backgrounds including various architects, artists, politicans, phyicians etc– were able to overtime build various settlements, towns, cities in the thousand years of isolation from the galaxy. In time, the Azuri people built an empire and began its conquest for power when they were able to establish a hyperspace canon on the historic city known as Azure. The Imperium immediately marked its way to its verdant sister Anaxes and gradually made their way throughout nearby systems, starting colonies within it's reach. Albeit with far more trouble and cost then what it was worth.
In the next thousand years following the reestablishment of Coruscanti contact, the Imperium took a more active role within interplanetary affairs in the Core. While its influence never surpassed the Human Core, the twin worlds of the Axum system were looked at for its exotic goods and industrial power which in turn brought over much of the early colonial corporatism from worlds such as Kuat, Alderaan and Corellia. In 26,010 BBY, Azuri miners struck fortune, coming across valuable despots of minerals and early coaxium coined the Gifts of Axumium. These discoveries hastened at the rate of which the Azure Empire grew, however its days were numbered when a devastating series of climate disasters left much of the Axum system defenseless and destroyed. Whatever survived was raided by pirates and interplanetary gangs, political infighting between government and military officials worsened the crisis. Coruscanti loyalists, once a political minority, became the majority– took control of what was left and submitted to its rival's political sphere.
