Audible interference emitters were sonic devices that were used as both deterrents and weapons. Usually the operator would turn on the machine to create a high pitched noise that was painful to those in its path. It was used on keeping dangerous individuals at bay for detainment. However, should one have switched the machine to its maximum damage it would do physical damage, resulting from heart attacks to complete rupture of the victim's head.
The Aan were known to have several of these in their possession, and in the Battle of Antoo used them to horrific effect.
