Athos was the bastard son of Lana Elyurius. He became a gladiator at a coliseum owned by Addipos the Hutt, where he became good friends with Addipos' lieutenant, K. With the help of Balthazar Gallo and several other gladiators, Athos led a rebellion against the Hutt. The Hutt surrendered to the rebels and gave them their freedom. Balthazar, attempting to reunify the Imperial Knights, invited Athos to join the Imperial Knights. However, little did Athos realize that Balthazar would soon step down as leader and make Athos the new Knight-Commander.
