Ashrruk, nicknamed Ash and known as The Grey One during her time fighting to protect Kashyyyk in the Yuuzhan Vong War, was a Force-sensitive female Wookiee, the unofficial apprentice of Kass Copek and a member of the Jedi Service Corps in the years between the Stark Hyperspace War and the Battle of Geonosis. Ash left the Jedi Order as the Clone Wars began, evading the Great Jedi Purge. She later came out of hiding to join the Alliance to Restore the Republic, helping to bring about the downfall of the Empire. Later in life, she joined the New Jedi Order, serving as a Jedi Master of for over 100 years and teaching many younglings the ways of the Force.

Personality and traits[]

Ash was blunt and brusque even for a Wookiee, with great loyalty and a logical mind underneath an impatient and aggressive exterior. She often found it easier to deal with large problems than small ones.

During her early life wandering around Kashyyyk Ash liked to collect crystals, one of which was a Kyber crystal that she later gave to Kass Copek after the Gungan saved her life. She also used crystals from her collection for the four blades of her lightsaber gauntlets.

Ash got along well with Kass's droid Bee, and would often get the astromech to take care of the mechanical problems she couldn't solve through brute force.

Powers and abilities[]

Due to her Force abilities and cybernetic left leg, Ash had remarkable strength even for a Wookiee, although in her final years arthritis caught up with her. To go with her strength, she crafted two double-bladed lightsaber gauntlets, which she used in an unorthodox, free-swinging style.

Behind the scenes[]

Ashrruk's name is a homage to the Northern Irish band Ash, who performed the song Clones, used for the end credits of the video game Republic Commando.

Ash's lightsaber gauntlets were inspired by Episode III concept art by Derek Thompson.

It wasn't originally intended for Ash to live through four major eras of galactic history, but due to plot difficulties in the Shades of Grey trilogy and obligations to Legacy-fanfic writing friends, she is currently set to live until 149 ABY.
