—A Confederate news report of the Battle of Valley City

The Army of the Border was an early-war field army of the Confederate States Army, the army of the Confederate States of Earth, an alliance of Nationalist and Conservative nations that had seceded from the Union of Earth States, and allied with the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Formed on the day the Confederacy was born, the Army of the Border was founded in the Confederation of the Drelan River, the easternmost of the original 10 Confederate nations, the army was created specifically to defend the Confederate border regions, shortly before the outbreak of war Confederate-sympathising Valand asked for the army to be based on their eastern border, out of fear of a Union invasion, the HQ of the army became Valley City, capital of Valand, this was made official with the Confederate-Valandan Alliance, which allowed the Confederacy to legally garrison forces within neutral Valand for mutual defence.

The army then defended pro-Confederate Valand from the forces of the Union which were invading from the Union's border regions, the critical battle was the Battle of Valley City, in which the army defended the city.

After this aggression by the Union the Republic of Valand grew even closer to the Confederacy, though remained a nominally neutral nation until shortly after the First Battle of Earth which took place a week after the Battle of Valley City, following which began a flood of nations seceding from the Union and joining the Confederacy, the Union lost 21 nations on the first day alone, the Republic of Valand was the first of them, becoming the 11th Confederate nation. shortly after this neighboring Valandia followed suit.

The army's last action was in the East Vertanian Campaign (popularly referred to as the "Liberation of East Vertania" in Confederate historiography), following which the army was folded into the newly expanded Department of Valand, Valadia and East Vertania, manning forts and other army installations throughout the regions.

Behind the Scenes[]

The Army of the Border is inspired by the early-war Army of the Peninsula of the Confederate States Army, a field army from Virgina under command of Colonel John B. Magruder which was active from May 1861 to April 1862 before being incorporated into the Army of Northern Virginia. The Battle Flag of the Army of the Border is a modification of the Battle Flag of the Army of the Peninsula
