Armitage Hux was a Human male who served as a general in the First Order as well as a member of the Supreme Council.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Armitage Hux was born shortly after the Battle of Yavin from an affair between General Brendol Hux and a kitchen maid. Growing up on Arkanis, Hux lived a friendless childhood and was the subject of much gossip among Imperial officers. His own father also looked down at him, seeing him as frail and weak-willed. The young Hux weathered his father's abuse by finding strength in stories of the Empire and how it had brought peace to the galaxy following the conclusion of the chaotic Clone Wars.
When Emperor Palpatine perished in the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, the Empire began to collapse and many aspiring warlords quickly moved to claim control of the directionless Imperial forces. During this time, Hux's father sided with Fleet Admiral Gallius Rax, who promised to crush the fledgling New Republic and succeed where Grand Vizier Sate Pestage and the Imperial Ruling Council had failed. However, during the tumultuous Battle of Jakku, the Imperial forces under Rax's control realized that he was working to destroy Imperial and Republic forces alike and subsequently turned against him. After Rax was killed, his remaining forces retreated from Jakku and went their separate ways. While a majority of them ended up joining Grand Admiral Thrawn's forces, the Huxes were among those that fell under Grand Admiral Rae Sloane, who led them into the Unknown Regions to recuperate and plan their next move.
While the other warlords fell one by one to the New Republic, Sloane's faction flourished in the Unknown Regions, finding resources on uncharted worlds as well as those at the very edge of the Outer Rim. As this new Empire grew, Hux found himself as being the first of a new generation of Imperial officers, one that would see to the New Order's restoration as the supreme power of the galaxy.
General of the First Order[]
By the time of the Sith Insurgency, Hux had attained the rank of general and was a member of First Order's Supreme Council. He also commanded the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Finalizer.[1] During that time, the First Order had infiltrated the Imperial Remnant with the intent of absorbing their forces and eliminating any officers and Moffs that would stand in the way of the First Order.
In 41 ABY, Hux and Moff Vynda Tareth coerced the representatives of the Balik and Larkin Corporation into investing and providing resources for the construction of a planet-sized weapon. He then brought Kylo Ren to the Moff Council so that the Knight of Ren could execute the Moffs.[2]
The following year, Hux led his forces in subjugating the planet of Lothal, coercing Governor Cara Jalvon into accepting the First Order's presence. He then sent Captain Phasma and her stormtroopers to apprehend a team of Jedi and Resistance soldiers that had come to Lothal in search of a map to the First Jedi Temple. When Phasma and her soldiers failed to apprehend them, the assassin Ochi reported to Hux and convinced him to send the Star Destroyer Fellfire to deal with the map's guardian Kane Skywalker.[1]
This order was later overruled by Supreme Leader Snoke, who had Hux recall the Fellfire and call off the search for the map, much to ambitious general's frustration. Returning to the Finalizer, Hux was ordered by the Supreme Leader to carry out the next phase of the First Order's operations and proceeded to move his forces to Mon Cala, where they clashed with the Resistance and the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. While initially having the upper hand, Hux's forces were eventually pushed back and he was forced to retreat at the behest of Supreme Leader Snoke.[1]
Hux and the other members of the Supreme Council later gathered before Snoke to report on the progress of their endeavors. He was ordered to remain at Lothal in the Dominus sector and move his forces to the neighboring Shadola and Jubilar sectors. When Hux suggested he also move for the Ash Worlds and target New Alderaan, he was sharply rebuked by the Supreme Leader for his failure at Mon Cala. He later convened with the rest of the Supreme Council at the behest of Kylo Ren, who had taken command of the First Order as Executor. Unaware that Ren had seemingly killed Snoke, Hux accepted the Executor's orders to focus on crushing the Resistance.[3]
