Arcarius Varino, sometimes referred to as Lord Arcarius by his subordinates, was a former slave, who became the adoptive son of Terrant Varino and even later a Sith. He did not have a proficiency for the Force, only average in that regard as he focused himself on the forms of lightsaber combat in an attempt to become an expert duelist to supplement what he perceived as failures in himself or his training. He would eventually grow to resent the leadership of the Sith Empire. As he had come to blame his superiors for his lack of advancement in the empire and saw it as them striking against him to keep him from gaining power.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Born on Iridonia in 3662 BBY, his true name would be forgotten as at a young age he was taken from his family and forced into servitude. Facing unfair treatment, his continued abuse was funneled into rage and anger he'd finally unleash on some of his fellow slaves, murdering them in cold blood and discovering his Force-sensitivity. The slave was subsequently sold to Jacodan Varino, herald and member of the Varino Family.
Servitude under Jacodan[]
The Varino's were much more gentle to the child slave, even if he still owned him. Arcarius would choose to avoid showing his Force-sensitivity believing it may get him punished. Arcarius would be quite timid around Jacodan as a result. He would still work dutifully, he would eventually find his way into the kitchen learning how to cook. His service as a chef was dutiful until he met Jacodan's brother, Terrant Varino, he was a kind soul and took a liking to the Zabrak chef, deciding to adopt him and free him from his servitude. Now Arcarius had a name and a purpose outside of menial labor, and he began to be tutored much more to try and get him to become well educated. Terrant did not do this out of the kindness of his heart however, he thought he might be able to get more sway among galactic politics with an agent who was not a human. So he was raised alongside his adopted siblings, being taught a number of languages to aid him in becoming an agent for Varino. But this would change when he once again had a violent outburst nearly killing his tutor with a Force choke, this is when Terrant saw another promising option for his new son.
The Sith Academy[]
In 3650 BBY, Terrant would send Arcarius off to the Sith academy, choosing to put his adoptive son in a position to where he may rise to power and give great boons to his adoptive family. On Korriban he would be a perfect fit, filled with hate and rage and general angst from his upbringing. Arcarius would quickly adjust to the dark side, but Arcarius was not powerful in any terms of the Force, he would never manipulate the Force as much as other sith. So as a way to compensate for this Arcarius, would practice often in the art of lightsaber combat, even with the lackluster training sabers. In other regards, he would scheme against his fellow acolytes as a way to preempt them, as he had his first taste of power in his life, even if only minuscule.
He would still however never stand out compared to his fellow acolytes, he was never the best at anything, his most impressive traits was how imposing he was and the dedication to the craft of lightsaber dueling. In everything else he was sub-par, he could still use the Force and he was dedicated but he never proved himself worthy. He would soon enough begin training himself on the ways of makashi and would try to lean more into honorable combat than most sith taking some of the lessons from his adoptive family. He would however also make use of deception and scheming as he made sure a number of his rival acolytes disappeared into Korriban's wilderness, never to be seen again. He would begin to change on Korriban however, he would begin to see through some of the lies Terrant had told him. He would begin to doubt that his adoptive father truly had his best intentions in mind. He however would not begin to fully see how much of a pawn he was to Terrant until much later. Eventually, after his years of training, he would become an apprentice though not that anyone truly took interest in training him as their apprentice. Though not the first choice of apprentices, he was eventually assigned a master, Darth Caedius and that began the path that he hoped would bring him the power he began to crave and he would soon become a Sith Lord.
