Anton Marcos was born on the Core World of Anaxes to famous Old Republic (and later Imperial) Admiral Carson Marcos of Anaxes and wife Kimverly Marcos of Alderaan. A few years later, his younger sister Connie Marcos was born. His childhood years were not extremely eventful, but everyone around him saw that he was destined for great things. Marcos excelled at whatever task he set out to perform and was miles ahead of other children his age. He was praised as a bright boy with a creative mind who had a talent for art. His mother and father had many arguments over his future. His father wanted him to follow in his footsteps as a navy man, his mother wanted a less dangerous life. Marcos himself dreamed about being an artist or a writer.
At 15 years of age, an event occurred which changed his life forever. The event was the Battle of Anaxes. Witnessing the battle had a profound effect on Marcos, he realized that battle could be another form of art. He became enamored with the stars, starships, and naval warfare. His father, who participated in the battle under Captain Dodonna, was pleased with this change in his son, but his mother was slightly worried about it. Another event took place less than two years later. Following a family vacation to Alderaan, pirates attacked their passenger ship and one of them took a liking to Connie Marcos. When they left the ship he took her with them, Marcos attempted to save his sister but was defeated by the pirate's captain, Largo Valenzia.
With the Clone Wars coming to an end, and the Empire being formed, no effort was made to track down the pirates responsible. During this time period his father was called back into service as an officer, leaving his mother and him alone. Marcos, who was very close to his sister, longed for an opportunity of vengeance. He dedicated himself to the study of weapons, starships, tactics, and battles; hoping to one day command a fleet that would protect the common people from evil. During this time he also realized that order is necessary for peace. He believed he could help the galaxy attain order, and stop evil by joining the Imperial Navy. The day after he turned 18 he shipped out to the Imperial Academy on Carida.
Academy Years (17 BBY - 13 BBY)[]
Marcos excelled at the academy. Every goal he set for himself, he achieved. Every mark set for him, he surpassed. He made quick friends with fellow cadet Merad Taltus, a friendship that would continue for the rest of their lives. He also met fellow student Devora Hooner, whom he secretly admired for putting up with all of the sexism that plagued the Imperial Military. The three became very close friends. Marcos even dated Hooner for a time, but thought better of it when it interfered with their friendship. At the beginning of his junior year at the academy, he was in the top 10 students of his class, thus qualifying for the junior officer program.
Junior Year on the Nebulax (14 BBY)[]
Cadet Marcos, I hereby commend you for bravery and skill in defending the Nebulax's Fist during an insurgent attack. I am sure Commodore Nebulax himself would present you with this award, if he had not been wounded in the attack...

Marcos was assigned to the Imperial Star Destroyer Nebulax's Fist under then Commodore Jack Nebulax, where he served as a junior crew pit officer. During an ordinary patrol mission, things turned upside-down when pirates boarded Nebulax's Fist. Marcos took up a blaster in defense of the ship and killed many of the attackers. He was present in the landing bay when Nebulax confronted the pirate leader, and saved the commodore's life after a thermal detonator exploded, taking off Nebulax's arm. He received a commendation for bravery and received a promotion to ensign from Nebulax after the commodore had recovered.
Senior Year at the Academy (13 BBY)[]
Marcos returned to the Academy on Carida for his senior year, bringing back many stories of his adventures on Nebulax's Fist. Trent Kane, another student, took a disliking to Marcos during this time because of Marcos' achievements away from the academy. Marcos' senior year passed uneventfully, and he graduated second in his class behind Devora Hooner.
Upon graduation, Marcos, Taltus, and Hooner made their way to a nearby "Party Planet" that many newly graduated cadets traveled to for celebration. While there Marcos met a human exotic dancer named Kelly Rivera while walking through a market with Taltus. Rivera was being roughed up by a Rodian named Flaxxa. Marcos and Taltus discouraged Flaxxa from continuing with his advances and ridiculed him in front of Rivera. She thanked them and they parted ways. Later on during their stay the group went to a dive bar to sample the local nightlife. Taltus quickly joined a sabbacc game and Hooner met up with another friend from the academy, leaving Marcos to himself. He had a few drinks and was prepared to leave when Kelly Rivera appeared on stage dancing. Marcos was so transfixed upon her performance, he did not notice three thugs step in front of him. Flaxxa the Rodian had brought friends. Trying to goad Marcos in to a fight, the group was almost unsuccessful when Marcos turned to leave. Flaxxa promised Marcos that as soon as he could he would break Rivera's neck. Marcos would later remark that what happened next was probably the least intelligent thing he had ever done. Marcos attacked the thugs, and for a little while he was winning. Merad Taltus, returning from his sabbac game also joined in the fight. The brawl seemed over after they had defeated the two thugs in hand to hand combat, but Flaxxa stabbed Marcos in the back with a blade. Flaxxa quickly fled the scene before stormtroopers arrived. Merad Taltus would later describe how his friend looked in the official report.
Anton just stood there, staring at the knife blade protruding from his chest. Blood was running down his uniform and falling on the ground. I couldn't stop looking at him, it was as if every eye was on him. It felt like hours, but it must have only been a few seconds. He looked up at me and his face was sickly pale, almost like looking at a mask made of my friend. His eyes seemed to stare off into space but he was looking at me and Devora. He croaked out a laugh and sank to his knees. Then we ran to him.

The knife blade had pierced his heart and he was barely alive. The timely arrival of the medics and the efforts of his friends saved his life.
Recovery (12 BBY)[]
Most medical experts agreed that the blade that had pierced his heart should have killed him, but somehow Marcos lived, astounding all. Unfortunately, his heart would never be the same again. With some debate, he eventually received an artificial heart and began the long road to recovery. His recovery took him a total of one year of rehabilitation, exercises, and watchfulness. During that year's time he fell behind, as everyone else from his class at the academy accepted postings and received a years worth of duty. He recovered quickly for having such a devastating wound, however. As soon as he was proclaimed fit by the doctors, he received a posting as a crew pit officer on board the ISD Indomitable.
First Tour of Duty (12 BBY - 8 BBY)[]
Marcos' first tour of duty was not particularly eventful. The Indomitable had originally been assigned to track down and destroy pirate fleets, but now had been reassigned to patrolling the core worlds, where nothing exciting happened in Marcos's mind. Nonetheless, Marcos performed his duty to the best of his ability, and then double checked it again to make sure he did it right the first time. When the tour of duty came to an end he met up with Merad Taltus on Coruscant and the two of them exchanged tales in an upscale cantina. Marcos was not impressed by Coruscant, he felt too crowded. During this time on Coruscant, Marcos met up with Kelly Rivera and the two married. Kelly moved to Anaxes to live with Marcos' family. The two spent their honeymoon there although Marcos soon received a promotion to Lieutenant, and a new posting to the ISD Typhoon.
Second Tour of Duty (8 BBY - 6 BBY)[]
Lieutenant Anton Marcos was assigned as the overseeing officer of the starboard crew pit. The first thing he noticed when he got on board was the captain of the Typhoon was an extremely arrogant and sadistic man. The second thing he noticed was that his old rival, Trent Kane, was the executive officer of the ship. During the first year, Marcos put up with the overbearing captain and his rival. He noticed stirrings amongst the crew, but first noticed trouble when Kane publicly argued with the captain on a command. Marcos sensed trouble brewing.

Sometime during the second year, a mutiny was launched by Kane and a portion of the ships crew. Kane and part of his group arrived on the bridge and demanded control of the ship from the captain at blasterpoint. Anton drew his blaster and demanded the surrender of Trent and his mutiny. After a small battle inside the ship between loyal forces and the mutineers, the loyal forces triumphed, although Kane had killed the captain. The mutineers were locked up and Marcos assumed command. He attempted to move the ship back to the nearest imperial space station. While on the way, pirates attacked his ship. They assumed control of the ship, although Marcos and his loyalists had put up a fight. Marcos made the difficult decision to set the ships self-destruct instead of allowing pirates to have it. During the confusion following this, Marcos and most of the crew was able to escape. All pirates and mutineers were assumed to have died in the explosion.
Lieutenant Marcos, we hereby clear you of any wrongdoing and return you to the status of an officer in the Imperial Navy. Also, we hereby promote you to Commander, in light of your quick thinking and dedication.

Marcos was cleared of any wrongdoing by the investigation board, and elevated to the rank of Commander. During his court martial, Marcos and his wife spent time together and before he left again she discovered that she was pregnant. His next assignment would be as executive officer (XO) on the ISD Nemesis.
Third Tour of Duty (5 BBY - 0 ABY)[]

Commander Marcos was personally selected for the Executive Officer position on the Nemesis by Captain Roark, who was impressed with Marcos' service record and admired his courage during the attack on Nebulax's Fist and later the mutiny on the Typhoon. Marcos quickly fit in to the routine and gained the respect of the crew and captain. On Anaxes, Kelly Marcos gave birth to a daughter, whom they named Connie.
Hunt for the Kress'A'Mareene (3 BBY)[]
Marcos would become part of the search for the Kress'A'Mareene after the artifact was stolen by pirates, and subsequently stolen by the dark sided cult Broken Blade. Marcos was instrumental in the formation of the agreement between the Imperials and the pirate crew who called themselves The Contingent. After the Battle of Krantylla, Marcos discovered that one of the pirates was none other than his long lost sister, Connie Marcos, who now called herself Carrie Red. After Nicola's betrayal of the Imperials, Marcos would deliver the Kress'A'Mareene to Darth Vader.
Duel with a nemesis (2 BBY)[]

Marcos and the Nemesis were assigned to The Nemesis Battle Group and tasked with eliminating pirate fleets throughout the Core Worlds and Inner Rim. Marcos particularly relished this assignment due to his anger towards the pirates who had kidnapped his sister years before. Before long, the battle group had caught up to the pirate fleet of Largo Valenzia, the pirate who had led the attack on the Marcos' family yacht in 16 BBY. Marcos eventually met Valenzia in naval combat and destroyed the pirate's ship. The Nemesis would remain in the Core Worlds along with Death's Head for the remainder of the year patrolling key trade routes.

During the Battle of Dreighton Marcos was wounded when the turbolaser station's on Death's Head were turned on Nemesis. In the aftermath of the battle, the captured Connie Marcos was reunited with the injured Anton Marcos. He had just enough time to inform her that she was an aunt before she escaped with the members of Pike's strike team and the colonists rescued during the battle. Marcos was left doubting his side in the aftermath of her apparent rebellious actions.
