Anarmar was one of the planets in the Senb'An'Tiin region and the capital of the state union with the same name in the waning days of the Old Republic. For many it was known as a financial and commercial center of the boundaries of the Unknown Regions, as well as a tropical resort.
Through years Anarmar changed a lot, being a colony with a population up to 500 inhabitants in 4000 BBY, and a center of the Confederacy for several centuries before 21 BBY and one of the Galactic Empire's cities before it was finally liberated after the Battle for Endor.
History[]
Old Republic Era[]
Anarmar might have remained uninhabited if not the war between the Republic and the Sith Empire c.4000 BBY. At those times this planet was known as Vur’Lua, and there were no settlements. Only after the arrival of the Republic representatives to the planet of Uthel in 5000 BBY a group of colonists from this planet established a small base on one of the continents of Vur’Lua. But the lack of financial support made the colonists leave the place for good.
It was during the Jedi Civil War when the colony was eventually rebuilt, but several months later destroyed. That was the result of military operations of the humanoids from the planet of Elecria. The slaughter on Vur’Lua was just the beginning of the war between Elecria and several other planets, that was part of their plan to control this sector with the help of the Sith Empire.
The Elecrians used cunning methods in order to conquer several worlds, including Uthel and Shiib. But the rising rebel forces brought the end of the whole Elecrian state as well as the death of their leaders, including the Elecrian Emperor, Arzar Esmut.
A peaceful agreement was made on Uthel, and the Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy was formed with three planets as members: Uthel, Elecria and Anarmar – an old colony with a new name.
It was some time later when Anarmar became the actual capital of the Confederacy, for more and more new citizens arrived each passing day. For many it became a new home, for their native worlds were wiped out by the mandalorians and the Sith. It was decided that the city would form a large ring of several megapolises, that would later form the administrative prefectures.
Clone Wars era[]
At around 31 BBY one of the later confederacy members - a mining world of Prolla has declared its independence, but Anarmar refused to acknowledge such an act of secession without the financial obligations fulfilled by the Prollian Administration. This issue was the reason for the negotiations, but Prolla still didn't want to resolve the financial problems before leaving the Confederacy. Only after that they would sent an "army" of battle droids and modified mining droids as well as a group of mercenaries that infiltrated the city and took control of the entire planet via an uploaded computer virus, that stunned the defenses of Anarmar.
Even though much damage was caused in the city, especially the fall of Prollian asteroid factory into the ocean, the conflict was easily resolved. Since that Anarmar went through further changes when the newly elected Prime Minister Duvar Enego proposed a reform of the Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy into a Federation and joining the Republic. Entire squares and districts were converted into military bases and platforms for the Grand Army of the Republic, many building were demolished as well the old trees were cut away.
In 20 BBY Anarmar was completely reconstructed to fit the needs of the Galactic Republic and its fleet.
Civil War era[]
Duvar Enego would became the Supreme Judge on Anarmar and de-facto the Governor of the planet. More importantly Anarmar was chosen as base of operations of the so-called Dark Guild loyal to the Emperor. The planet also served as a base for the imperial stormtroopers.
Many imperial officers and officials had private villas on the planet, usually on the upper levels of the city skyscrapers.
Anarmar would remain an imperial city up to 4 ABY.
The New Republic era[]
After Battle for Endor Anarmar was liberated. With the Dark Guild gone and the Imperials perish at many fronts, a new government was formed. The new authorities decided that they would not like to see any Union at all, so the planet remained neutral for the next decades.
However it would fall under the influence of a powerful Areem corporation that produced droids and other products on the planet.
Government[]
After the first battle for Elecria c. 4000 BBY Anarmar was controlled by the governor appointed by the Uthelian Council. Later a Parliament was formed and the post of the Prime Minister was established. In 38 BBY Adrio Velenno was the Prime Minister, and in 21 BBY Duvar Enego took up this post, being the last person to hold this office before the Empire.
Anarmar was also the capital of the Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy with a governing body of the Planetary Assembly. The representatives from other planets resided in the Diplomatic District.
Both the local government and the confederacy institutions were dissolved just after the establishment of the New Order.
Cities[]
Anarmar Central[]
Also known as Anarmar Ring it was a large sector to the South of the equator of the planet, that consisted of administrative prefectures. The northern part included some beaches and sea-fronts, as well as leisure areas like hotels, casinos, restaurants, museums and many others.
The central part included commercial and industrial complexes. Many spaceports, hangars and warehouses were located in this sector as well.
The southern part of the city in many ways reminded the Northern sector.
Polar Anarmar[]
Polar Anarmar is the second city on the planet, constructed later on for scientific and technological research. It was located in the very Northern part of the planet, in the cold region.
Several powerful organizations established their own posts there, as well as hangars, warehouses and some other facilities.
Many buildings were built with the use of snow and ice, though other less natural materials were used there too.
Flora and Fauna[]
Much of the original landscape of Anarmar was hidden beneath certain quarters of the city. However, many trees and non-sentient species were taken to the upper city levels where special gardens were created.
Mon Calamari scientists established a small research station in order to learn more about the various kinds of fish and sea mammals. The majority part of oceans remains unexplored.
Places of interest[]
Anarmar is famous for different sights, museums and places alike. Among the most favourite locations are:
- Prime Minister's Residence - a medium skyscraper surrounded by gardens and forests, that served as a home for many political leaders of the planet. Later it became the residence of an Imperial Governor.
- Sunshine Gardens - several leisure areas among the high buildings and offices, this was a place where the locals enjoyed tranquility and coolness during hot busy days.
- Anarmar Botanical Garden - one of the largest in the sector, it was the place where one could see different kinds of trees and plants. Some of them were brought to Anarmar by refugees and travelers from their native worlds across the Galaxy.
- Anarmar Zoo - several thousand kinds of animals and birds brought both from Anarmar surface long ago and from other planets are now available for all citizens.
- Anarmar Aqua Park - a resort in the southern part of Anarmar Ring City.
- Anarmar Square of three powers - a large territory in the Central Administrative prefecture, where the three institutions were situated - the Parliament, the Anarmar Government and the High Court.
- Anarmar Confederacy Headquarters - located near the Diplomatic District, this large building was a forum for talks and decision-making between the planets-members of the Senb'An'Tiin Confederacy. After the Empire it became the Museum and Library.
- Anarmar Bou-Gitana Financial Center - located in the central part of Anarmar Ring City, the building represented a marvelous piece of art, built almost a millennia ago.
- Vigilant Tower - a large structure, built circa 1,000 BBY as possible headquarters for the local Jedi representatives. However it was never used by the Jedi Order. Later it was transformed into an Observation center.

Behind the scenes[]
- The planet was created by Neterwan in 1999-2000, just after the release of The Phantom Menace and was inspired by Coruscant and its skyscrapers.
- It was originally called Sto'Lin, but then it was changed to Anardaln'. Finally Anarmar was chosen as the proper name for the planet.
- Anarmar in many ways reminds of Taris, one of the Outer Rim planets from the video game Knights of the Old Republic.
- The Administrative prefectures of Anarmar were created upon the real ones that exist in Japan
- In early drafts Anarmar was just an island or a continent on a water planet, and all the buildings were of the red color.
- Anarmar Square of three powers is actually inspired by Praça dos Três Poderes located in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil.
