My homeworld? It's called Amaranthine. A beautiful world, where the twilights are long, the seas are the color of wine, and fields of gold stretch as far as the eye can see. More's the pity that the Order has nothing like it.

Amaranthine was a terrestrial planet located in the Core Worlds. A pleasant and temperate world, Amaranthine was covered by lush green forests, golden plains, and snow-capped mountains. Like fellow Core Worlds such as Alderaan and Chandrila, Amaranthine was known for being a center of art and culture.

Amaranthine was a member world of the Galactic Republic during its waning days, represented in the Galactic Senate. With the rise of the Galactic Empire, Amaranthine was initially reluctant and wary of the New Order and, later, outright critical of it. However, after the destruction of Alderaan and a brutal Imperial occupation, the planet was cowed into line.

After the end of the Galactic Civil War, Amaranthine was a member of the New Republic and had a seat in the new Senate.

Description[]

Amaranthine was an idyllic blue-amber planet of vast plains, calm seas, lush forests, and high mountains. It was temperate, with a warmer climate than average, and due to its orbit and axial tilt experienced very little seasonal change: spring and autumn were pleasant and cool, summers were hot, and the winters were rainy and mild.

An agriworld, Amaranthine was renowned for its golden fields of wheat and its vineyards, where grapes were grown to produce fine wine. Much of the native animal life was placid and gentle, although there were a few noteworthy species of predators. One such species was the felinoid vinu.

Amaranthine's cities were ornate and glamorous; the capital, Locia, was described as a "glittering city of light." Nevertheless, all of the cities on the planet were managed and designed to have as little impact on the environment as possible. As a result, pollution and waste were virtually unheard of.

Society and culture[]

Amaranthine's society was a utopian one.

The local law enforcement agency and military was the Amaranth Guard. A prominent and politically powerful organization was the Amaranthine Merchants' Guild.

Government[]

The local government presiding over the planet was the Amaranthine Senate.

History[]

Early history[]

During the Old Republic period, Amaranthine was engaged in a bitter economic and military rivalry with Aquila in the neighboring Colonies region.

Behind the scenes[]

The amaranth was a genus of perennial plants, normally known for reddish-purple color. In mythology, the amaranth was often described as a flower with eternal life. The term "amaranthine" means "unfading" or "everlasting", but also refers to a deep purplish-red colour like the amaranth flower. Amaranthine's city centers were inspired by Renaissance-era Gothic and Baroque architecture, as well as the architecture of Naboo.
