Alpha Squad was the first of 26 squads of four formed at the end of the Mandalorian Wars. Their purpose was to provide groups of strong commandos to serve the Republic in times of war, something the Mandalorian Wars did not have. 4 infants were taen by the Republic for each squad and trained from infancy in the ways of combat, stealth, and war. By the time of Revan's second reign as a Sith Lord following Darth Malak's death, Alpha Squad was ready for action.

Alpha Squad was formed up of 4 commandos; Ash Ulrand, (their leader, nicknamed Boss) Rayce Olesa, (their sniper, nicknamed Styx) Allyn Fera, (female, and their melee specialist, nicknamed Shiv) and Ben Astar (their slicer/demolitionist, nicknamed Mech)

Shortly after Darth Revan killed Darth Malak and re-took his Sith Empire, Alpha Squad was introduced. Republic war leaders were doubtful that the Commando Project would work. They were all proven wrong during the Alpha's first mission to a Sith Embassy on Maridun. Not a single Sith soldier survived, and the Alphas never fired a single shot.

One of Alpha Squad's first campaigns was to investigate the disappearance of the RAS Liberator. After being separated, wounded, and cornered by Hutt minions in league with the Sith, it seemed the end of the Alphas. Thankfully, Shiv and Boss were able to meet back up, find Styx and Slicer, and both killed the Hutt working for Revan and reclaimed the Liberator for the Republic.

Shortly thereafter, Revan's Sith soldiers attacked Rhen Var, trying to obtain a Qel-Droman artifact from Ulic Qel-Droma's tomb. As Republic troopers defended the harbor, (and failed) Alpha Squad prepared defenses upon the citadel that Qel-Droma was laid to rest.

A Sith Battle Walker decimated the harbor, and continued on to the citadel, bombarding the buildings. The few surviving soldiers from the harbor fought off Sith soldiers, while the Alphas used jetpacks to bomb the walker with Anti-Armor shells. The assault failed, and the shells barely made a dent into the walker.

They returned to the citadel and used the numerable turrets to open rapid fire upon the walker. After sustained firepower, the walker finally went down, and the remaining Sith troops were destroyed.
