The Akurian government was the ruling authority of the ice planet Akuria II. It was a federation of the twelve planetary tribes of Akurians, with each having their chief on the tribal council. One of them was elected to be the high chief, the planetary ruler and council leader. The only known high chief was Fafnir. Each tribe provided warriors for the Akurian army, who utilized both primitive spears and blades as well as modern blasters, including the E-11 rifle. A large mobile command vehicle was created known as the War Sled.
The government was known to be taken over on four occasions, by the Rakatan Infinite Empire, Sith Empire, Confederacy of Independent Systems, and Galactic Empire (though they believe the Empire was defending them, and let them build a garrison base). However, it was always in existence during each occupation, just with less power and authority. With the three occupations in mind, they were able to drive an invading Yuuzhan Vong force off of their planet in the Battle of Akuria II.
