My strength in the Force and my hatred keep me alive. Now he will pay for my death.
—Akaria Tano

Akaria Tano, better known as Eradicus, was a female Togruta and an ancestor of Ahsoka Tano. She reigned as a Sith Lord during the Draggulch Period, around 2000 BBY. Initially, she was a loyal Padawan of the esteemed Jedi Master Phanius. However, when Phanius abandoned the Jedi Order for his individualistic ideology, which conflicted with the Jedi Code, Akaria followed him, convinced by his ideas. Her master led her to the dark side of the Force, and she became his Sith apprentice, adopting the name Eradicus.

Eradicus supported her master, now known as Darth Ruin, in reviving the New Sith Empire. She helped rally various surviving Sith clans under his banner. Darth Ruin and Eradicus successfully converted fifty Jedi during the Fourth Great Schism. With the Sith revival complete, Darth Ruin instigated the New Sith Wars, a widespread conflict that pitted the Sith against the Jedi Order and the Old Republic.

During a battle on a planet known for its deadly acid rain, Eradicus and her master attempted to leave before the rain began. However, they were confronted by a Jedi, leading to a fight. After defeating the Jedi, the rain started, and Darth Ruin abandoned Eradicus, despite her pleas for help. Although Eradicus was romantically in love with him, her master, because of his ideology and beliefs, left his own Sith disciple behind. She was left behind, etched to the bone by the acid rain, ultimately leading to her death.

After her death, a Sith Lord found her skeleton and performed a dark ritual to revive her skeletal remains, intending to use her as a puppet through the Force. However, Eradicus countered by exerting her own Force control, turning her skeletal body against the Sith Lord and orchestrating his demise. Fueled by a desire for retribution, she harbored a deep-seated grudge against her former master, Darth Ruin.

Following the assassination of her master, Akaria returned to her hometown, Shili, to reunite with her family, especially her twin sister, Azatha Tano. Due to her skeletal appearance, she became an urban legend among her people. In 20 BBY, during the Clone Wars, she met her descendant, Ahsoka Tano, on her homeworld. Sensing a familial connection, Akaria approached Ahsoka with a sense of tranquility and confessed her misdeeds, expressing feelings of suffering, guilt, and shame. Acknowledging her deep sadness, Akaria admitted that her greatest mistake was blindly following her master’s beliefs.

Instead of condemning her, Ahsoka extended forgiveness for Akaria’s actions. Consequently, Akaria saw no purpose in clinging to the Force that sustained her existence. She willingly released control over her skeletal body and peacefully embraced rest, allowing her remains to naturally decay.

Biography[]

Akaria's journey to the dark side[]

Akaria Tano was a Force-sensitive Togruta female Padawan of Phanius, who was trained in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during the time of the Old Republic. She held her master in high esteem and was proud to have an intellectual and charismatic mentor by her side. At some point, Phanius taught Akaria his individualistic ideology, and she was the first person to hear it. Instead of questioning her master's ideology, she became fascinated by it, even more so than by the Jedi Council itself. Despite Phanius's polarizing reputation within the Jedi Order, Akaria continued to support him. When Phanius eventually left the Order due to the Council's refusal to accept his beliefs, Akaria followed him. She abandoned the ways of the Jedi, adopted her master’s individualistic ideology, and assisted him in exploring alternative teachings.

During Phanius's quest for knowledge, he obtained a holocron containing principles of the millennia-old Sith Order. He imparted this knowledge to Akaria, blending it with his own ideology and leading them both down the path of the dark side, where they fell under its influence. After Phanius succumbed fully to the dark side with his newfound knowledge and became Darth Ruin, he sought revenge against the Jedi Order by rallying followers to his cause. Akaria, now known as Eradicus, assisted her master in recruiting more disciples and together they revived the Sith Order under his name, causing the Fourth Great Schism by persuading fifty additional Jedi to join their cause and forming a new Sith empire.

Betrayal and transformation[]

During a conflict on an acidic planet in the New Sith Wars, both the New Sith Empire (including Eradicus and Darth Ruin) and the Republic became embroiled in battle, resulting in significant losses on both sides. Akaria fought alongside her master and even saved Darth Ruin's life from a Jedi attack. After brutal fighting, the Sith emerged victorious. However, as they attempted to leave, they were confronted by a Jedi, leading to a confrontation. Following the defeat of the Jedi, rain began to fall, and Darth Ruin abandoned Eradicus despite her love for him and pleas for him to save her life. Left behind and heartbroken, Eradicus faced her tragic end as the acidic rain etched her flesh down to the bone.

After her demise, Eradicus's skeletal remains were discovered by a Sith Lord who performed a dark ritual, intending to manipulate her as his puppet. However, driven by her anger, hatred, and sorrow, Eradicus resisted his control and turned the tables, using her own Force powers to slay the Sith Lord and seize command of her skeletal body. As an undead Togruta skeleton, Eradicus vowed revenge against Darth Ruin for abandoning her to die. His betrayal shattered not only her trust but also her heart, as he had been both her mentor and love interest during their time together as Sith Apprentice and Master.

Aftermath[]

After Darth Ruin died, Akaria decided to go into exile because she no longer wanted anything to do with the New Sith Empire. She returned to her birth planet, Shili, hoping to reconnect with her family and give up life as a Sith or Jedi. Despite her skeletal appearance, she was able to integrate into her twin sister's family, though she became something of an urban legend in her home village. Since then, she lived in her home village with her family, but she felt bad about everything, as she partly blamed herself for the war due to blindly trusting her master.

In 20 BBY, during the Clone Wars, Akaria, who had lost everyone she once loved, lived in a cave. Until one day, a descendant, Ahsoka Tano, entered the cave. At first, Akaria attacked Ahsoka, not only because of her undead appearance but also because she had long felt only pain, sadness, and shame about herself. When she noticed a family connection in Ahsoka, she stopped her attack. In the end, when Ahsoka Tano learned everything, she released Akaria Tano, allowing her to finally rest in peace after all she had been through.

Personality and traits[]

When Akaria Tano was still a Padawan, she was slightly naive and curious, which made it easier for her master, Phanius, to impart his individualistic ideology to her. She was kind-hearted but somewhat shy, always with the best intentions. However, she was also determined by her training and remained loyal to her master, following him even after he left the Jedi Order.

As she assisted him in exploring alternative teachings, she became more relaxed and open. During this time, she started developing feelings for her master, but she never confessed them. Instead, she showed her love by helping him, driven by her unwavering conviction. Consumed by obsession and devotion, Akaria would stop at nothing to protect and please her beloved master, Phanius.

Over time, she transitioned from being kind-hearted to becoming cold-hearted, shedding her inhibitions about killing. Renamed Eradicus, Akaria took a darker turn towards the Dark Side as Phanius (Darth Ruin) fully embraced its power and sought revenge against the Jedi Order. She aided her master by recruiting more disciples, reviving the Sith Order, and contributing to the Fourth Great Schism. Her actions were driven by loyalty not only to her master but also to his ideology, which she fervently believed in and propagated.

After being resurrected, Akaria became an undead Togruta skeleton harboring a grudge against Darth Ruin for letting her die and breaking her heart. She would seize any opportunity to enact her hatred towards her master and send him into the afterlife, believing it would bring her redemption. However, when Darth Ruin died, her past actions became clear, and through this suffering, she could not find redemption. Later, when she returned to her homeland, she decided to protect her loved ones. However, the guilt remained until her redemption by Ahsoka.

Powers and abilities[]

After the dark ritual, she used her own Force to manipulate her skeletal body like a marionette, resisting the Sith Lord's attempts to dominate her. Now a living skeleton sustained by her Force and intense hatred, she faced a critical weakness: the more she exerted herself with the Force, the more bones she had to sacrifice. Though she could reattach her bones, utilizing her full Force potential (100%) would inevitably result in her demise. As a result, she seldom deployed the Force to its fullest extent.

Behind the scenes[]

This version of Eradicus, based on the original Eradicus from Star Wars, depicts Akaria wearing a female set of dark armor, a type of plate armor infused with the dark side of the Force. The idea of Akaria Tano is that Ahsoka had an ancestor who was also Force-sensitive, and later became an undead skeleton after her death. This concept was inspired by two things: Sith alchemy and Korriban zombie. Akaria's twin sister, Azatha Tano, has blue eyes and blue stripes on her Lekku, in contrast to Akaria.
