An age-name was part of the coming of age ceremony on Hashlahan during the Old Republic era. During the ceremony, the individual coming of age was given a name which best suited their personality.
The only known example of an age-name ceremony was that of Altaïr, in which it was decided that he should be known as Shae due to his highly acrobatic style of fighting.
