Abeloth was an ancient dark side entity. According to legend, she was born as Belot, daughter of Tilotny. After her mother's death, she was taken in by the Ones and became known as Mother.
Biography[]
Fabled origins[]
According to legend (and the disputed accounts of Arhul Hextrophan), Abeloth was the last spawn of Tilotny shortly before her death. Born under the name "Belot," the lonely girl knew not of the purpose her mother had intended for her and wandered the cosmos, alone and sad.[1] She eventually ended up on a jungle world where she was taken in by the Ones as their servant. The Father of the Ones eventually fell in love with Belot and she came to be accepted as the Mother of the Ones, despite her mortal status.[2]
As Belot grew older, she became increasingly aware of her finite life and thus sought immortality. Against the laws which the Ones had instated, she drank from the Fonts of Power and Knowledge, which caused her to realize who—and what—she truly was: Abeloth, daughter of Tilotny. Horrified by what his love had done, the Father departed from the jungle world with his children and sought out the Killiks. The insectoid race proceeded to create the Maw Cluster, a cluster of black holes, to imprison Abeloth on her planet, while those she had once thought her family retreated into a pocket dimension which became known as Mortis. Once again struck with grief and loneliness, Abeloth was driven mad by the isolation.[1][2]
Over the span of several millennia, Abeloth would break free from her prison to wreak havoc across the galaxy, only to be defeated by the Ones and sent back to her prison. This cycle eventually ended when the Ones perished during the Clone Wars in 21 BBY.[2]
Seeking Jaden Korr[]
Following the Glorian War, the Sith apprentice Varon Krul was tasked with his new master Snoke in freeing Abeloth so that the Fonts of Power and Knowledge could be used to create a new incarnation of the Ones. Upon making contact with Abeloth, Varon convinced the dark side entity to work with him to obtain his endgame in exchange for her freedom. Reaching out, Abeloth touched the minds of a Community of mad clones, professing to be their "Mother", and sent them to seek out the Jedi Knight Jaden Korr, who she planned to remake into a Force wielder.
Eventually, the clones succeeded in luring Jaden Korr to Abeloth's planet, while Varon and his minions destroyed Sinkhole Station, freeing Abeloth from the Maw Cluster. With Jaden and Varon already selected as the foreseen "Father" and "Son" of her pantheon, all she needed now was a "Daughter". She soon found a potential subject in the scavenger Rey, and she sent Jaden to Jakku to retrieve her.[3]
However, not long after sending Jaden away, everything began to fall apart. Varon and his forces were defeated at Mandalore, with the Sith Lord himself vanishing from the battle, while Jaden decided to go against Abeloth's plan and defeated Atha Prime on Jakku. Deprived of all her minions, Abeloth planned to wreak havoc on the galaxy only for her planet to be bombarded by the forces of the First Order. Snoke had deemed Abeloth to be too independent of an agent, especially without Varon to rein her in, and thus ordered her planet to be destroyed. The source of her power gone, Abeloth dissipated into nothingness, joining her mother in death.[3]
