A'Sharad Hett was a Human male who served as a Jedi Master in the waning days of the Galactic Republic. The son of Sharad and K'Sheek Hett, he eventually became the Padawan of Jedi Masters Ki-Adi-Mundi, and later, An'ya Kuro. When he was only a teen, his mother was killed the Yinchorri Uprising, and his father was murdered by the Jedi assassin Aurra Sing.
Following his father's death, Ki-Adi-Mundi decided to take the young A'Sharad as his padawan. He worked alongside various members of the Jedi Council: Adi Gallia, his own master, Yaddle, Mace Windu, and Even Piell. He eventually discovered that Tusken and Human DNA weren't compatible, so he concluded that his mother was human. Two years after the Invasion of Naboo, A'Sharad accompanied Ki-Adi Mundi and Adi Gallia to track down the Jedi killer to end the threat. during the fight, A'Sharad used his anger to overcome Sing, but was able to regain control over himself. Before he could go into exile, An'ya Kuro offered to take up A'Sharad's training. Under the guidance of the Dark Woman, he ascended to the rank of Jedi Knight and took Bhat Jul as his Padawan.
During the Clone Wars, he served the Republic as a General and established himself as a charismatic leader who often led his troops from the front. He eventually became friends with the young Anakin Skywalker and helped Anakin come to terms with the destruction which had been wrought by the galaxy-wide war. A'Sharad took part in the Battle of Boz Pity when his mentor Adi Gallia was killed by General Grievous. On Saleucami, he fell in love with Xiaan Amersu until she was sacrificed herself to destroy the Separatist's planetary gun. After her death, A'Sharad attained the rank of Jedi Master near the end of the Clone Wars. When Palpatine declared the Jedi traitors, A'Sharad managed to survive the Clone Wars, and was one of the remaining Jedi to have escaped the Great Jedi Purge in 19 BBY.
A'Sharad Hett eventually made his way back to his homeworld of Tatooine where he vowed to wage a private war against the new Galactic Empire. This was when he stumbled across by his former Jedi comrade, Obi-Wan Kenobi. After he was defeated by Kenobi in a lightsaber duel, he was exiled from Tatooine and later discovered that it was Anakin Skywalker who became the Sith Lord Darth Vader, who had aided in the annihilation of the Jedi Order. A'Sharad blamed himself for the destruction of the Jedi Order and became a bounty hunter. During one of his missions, he found himself on Korriban, where he trained as a Sith under the tutelage of the Dark Lord XoXaan.
Hett eventually fell to the dark side until he was captured by a Yuuzhan Vong in the Unknown Regions. His cybernetic arm was replaced by an organic one and his left eye was replaced by the eye of a Yuuzhan Vong creature. After been taught by Vergere, A'Sharad proclaimed himself as Dread Lord and Dark Lord of the Sith, taking the name "Darth Krayt".
As Krayt, he became the founder and leader of the One Sith. As Krayt, he rebuilt the Sith Order and kept its existence hidden from the Jedi by cloaking their presence on Korriban. To survive, Krayt spent many years in stasis before reemerging to form an alliance with Moff Nyna Calixte and to spark the Sith–Imperial War that led to the destruction of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. At the climax of the war, Krayt deposed Emperor Roan Fel and brought about the destruction of the New Jedi Order. Darth Krayt ruled the galaxy with an iron fist for seven years before the alliance between Roan Fel and Galactic Alliance admiral Gar Stazi threatened his rule. Furthermore, Krayt discovered the existence and survival of a Skywalker: Cade. Krayt feared that with these deteriorating conditions and his bad health would lead to his demise before his dream was finished, and sent about the hunt for Cade Skywalker. However, during a skirmish on Had Abbadon, Krayt was stabbed and sent hurtling off a cliff. The Sith Lord's powers proved strong, however, when they saved his life. Darth Krayt was then approached by Darth Wyyrlok, his most trusted advisor, who presumably murdered Krayt, believing the Dread Lord would lead to the Sith Order's destruction. But, even as he was inactive, Krayt's ideals were being carried out by Wyyrlok in his place.
A year later on 138 ABY, Krayt was later resurrected, which healed himself from his Vong implants. he called out to all those across the galaxy who had touched the dark side, signaling his return. With the aid of loyal Sith and a new breed of Sith troopers, Krayt retook Coruscant, slaying Darth Wyyrlok in the process, and began making preparations to rebirth the galaxy through war. After taking control of his Empire, Darth Krayt led his forces to destroy the Alliance, Fel Empire, and the New Jedi Order. Learning the location of the Hidden temple, Krayt ordered an attack and find Skywalker so he can kill him and resurrect him. In his final duel with Cade Skywalker, Krayt showed Cade the future about what will happen, but Cade was able to resist it, and killed him. Fearing that he will be resurrected again, Cade sent Krayt's body to the sun, finally putting an end to him.

Resurrected[]
But even death was not the end for Krayt. Unlike his followers who served him in the One Sith, Krayt never intended to be replaced by an apprentice, expecting his Empire to rule the galaxy eternally, with only himself as its true leader. Unable to rediscover his former Master's lost secret, He had to find a different way to cheat death like Emperor Palpatine did. During the Second Imperial Civil War, incase if something happened to Krayt and his original body, he met with a Chiss Scientist on Csilla where he would deliver a blood sample. The Scientist agreed to keep this hidden from the One Sith and would serve his greatest purpose to the Empire.
After the end of the Imperial Civil War, and the rise of the Galactic Federation Triumvirate, Darth Krayt had found a different way to cheat death by preserving his spirit after his original body was destroyed by Cade Skywalker, by the method of spirit transference. He arranged for a few of clones of his younger self to be created for his spirit to possess. With the Yuuzhan Vong implants, his cloned bodies would give him the strength of immortality once more. His primary supply of clones was kept on Csilla, guarded by a loyal scientist named Litter'rin. After Krayt's spirit entered the first cloned body, he at last resurrected in the living. Hoping to seek his revenge on Cade Skywalker, Krayt ordered his loyal servant to keep the other clones in death incase if something happens again. Before hel eft the laboratory, Krayt had a flashback of himself when he was sharing his secret relationship with Xiaan Amersu. The flashback ended, in which Krayt had a few tears coming down from his eyes, which proves that there was still good in him.
