- King Eric IV of the Kingdom of the Isles, a kingdom consisting of the islands off the western coast of the Zarkan Kingdom, retracts his oath of fealty to the Zarkan Kingdom. Eric IV is sympathetic to the Kingdom of Westland, the nation the Isles originally owed their allegiance to.
- War of the Isles: In response, the Zarkan Kingdom declares war on the Kingdom of the Isles, navally invades them, and conquers them in a three week campaign.
- Eric IV is deposed for his treason, his son, Eric V is made Grand Duke of the Grand Duchy of the Isles, as a show of good faith by the Zarkan Kingdom. The Grand Duchy is, in fact, merely a puppet of the Zarkan Kingdom.
