- The Kingdom of Zarkania-Westland joins the Union of Earth States.
- Marsville Mine Disaster, a fire breaks out in the Marsville Mine on Mars, on the outskirts of Union City, capital of Mars Colony, only 50 of the 300 miners working in the mine at the time are able to escape, by taking the lift before it is destroyed in an explosion, trapping the remaining miners inside, the disaster prompts Martian Colonial Affairs to issue an order for all mines to have multiple emergency exit lifts and stairwells.
- The Marsville Mine is abandoned following the disaster in favour of the new Union Mine, following the disaster the Marsville Mine was reportedly haunted by the spirits of those killed in the disaster, which led to the superstitious miners refusing to enter the mine, which was part of the reason for the mine's closure.
