The 294th Legion, more commonly known as the Imperial Gamma Force, IGF or simply Gamma Force, was a special commando legion that served the Galactic Empire as an anti-terrorist organization after the Battle of Yavin. It was first deployed during the Targen campaigns against Rebel soldiers and was successful in neutralizing them. The would again be deployed on Trigon to investigate a missing Imperial Star Destroyer where they ingaged local Trigon warriors.

History[]

Formation[]

The 294th was formed shortly after the Battle of Yavin by Imperial General Marcus Tynes and his brother Jonas Tynes. The Legion was made specifically for the purpose of hunting down Rebels and other embedded insurgents. Jonas Tynes was placed in command and quickly began requesting the best recruites coming out of the Imperial Academy. In order to outfit itself with better weapons, Marcus Tynes was able to obtain a number of weapon designs made by Duulan Weapons Research and Development which had been shut down by the Empire after the Clone Wars. Tynes was able to get imperial weapons builders to began producing many of these weapons. Despite the promise the group showed, it was often overlooked by Imperial Command, and wasn't brought into service right away.

Targen Campaigns[]

Battle of Europa[]

The unit's first deployment was during the Europa Campaign which had already produced heavy losses on both the Rebel and Imperial combatants. The 294th was tasked with capturing a maze of underground tunnels that were under Rebel control. The tunnel system was located under an old CIS base that the Rebels had taken over and fortified. Hoping to take the base garrison by surprise, the General in charge of the campaign order Commander Tynes to take his men inside and clear all Rebel forces. Despite strong Rebel resistance, Tynes and his men were able to kill all the Rebels inside, allowing the General and his forces to enter the base and wipe out the rest of the Rebels.

Ranen[]

Shortly after their mission to Europa, the 294th was ordered back into action. This time the target the astro-platforms above the planet Ranen. Rebel Commandos had taken over the platforms for an unknown reason. The 294th was quickly despatched to remove the Rebels and discover their purpose. The IGF quickly took over half the base, but the Rebels reorganized and began a counter-attack. Despite heavy fighting, the 294th was able to defeat the Rebels and find that the Rebellion was now building a base on the planet's surface. This intel allowed Imperial forces to land and launch an assault on the Rebel forces before they could dig in.

Mission to Trigon[]

With their actions in the Targen sector, the 294th began to receive attention from Imperial command. Not long after their recent victories on Ranen and Europa, the IGF was dispatched to Trigon, to investigate the disappearance of an Imperial Star Destroyer. They found it crashed on the planet surface and sent a ground force down to search for survivors. Upon landing, the officer in charge reported lots of bodies but no signes of life. However, they soon found themselves under attack by Trigon Warriors. Commander Tynes himself landed with reinforcements. With the arrival of Tynes and some heavy equipment, the Imperials were able to defeat the Trigons. In the process, the IGF was able to capture a nearby outpost, gaining intel on the Trigons. The info showed the Trigons were testing illegal weapons. The Empire then dispatched a full invasion force to bring the planet under control.
