Ben Larmak founds the Republic Diplomacy Party, a Separatist-sympathizing, anti-Militarist party which advocates diplomacy between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
Richard Williams of the Federalist Faction is elected President of the Union of Earth States in the Union of Earth States Presidential election, 24 BBY, defeating Jane Zarkan, nominee of the Traditionalist Faction, Williams is very unpopular amongst the Traditionalists, the original members of the Union Senate, due to his commitment on increasing the centralisation of power, increasing federalism, and increasing taxes and tariffs on the member states, a complete reversal to the tradition of limited Union involvement in the affairs of member states.
Richard Williams officially replaces outgoing President Kieran Lamb during his inauguration.
The Traditionalists do everything in their power to combat Williams' radical actions, from vetoing his proposals to stalling his proposals with red tape and bureaucracy, all of the nation states which were members of the Traditionalist Faction would go on to form the Confederate States of Earth three years later.
Anti-Federalist Rebels in Soutalia declare the Republic of Laralia, a self-declared state within Laralia, the western state of Soutalia, causing the Laralia Crisis, the Republican rebels receive clandestine support from the Traditionalists.
Anti-Federalists in Morivania, a region of Nortalia, inspired by the Laralia Rebellion, declare the Republic of Morivania, beginning the Morivanian Rebellion, the Republic survives for three months before being put down.
Iron Wagon 150: Re-enactment of the Great Zarkanian Railway Trials of 174 BBY, Jane Zarkan presides over the re-enactment, mirroring that of her ancestor, Bartholomew Zarkan VII, who presided over the original event.
The Federalists condemn the practise of Indentured Servitude found in many of the western nations. Public anger results in the establishment of the Pro-Servitude League. Jane Zarkan responds to the Federalists in a speech.
Printing Shop Riot: The Unionist Ledger, a staunchly pro-Union newspaper in Zarkan City, prints an article siding with the Union in condemning Indentured Servitude.
Printing Shop Riot: The article causes public outrage, a mob assembles shortly after, many of whom belong to the Pro-Servitude League. The mob marches on the Ledger's printing shop.
Printing Shop Riot: The mob throws bricks through the windows and breaks the door in with a battering ram. One of the employees shoots a rioter. The rioters pull the employees and owner from the shop, they tar and feather them and parade them around the streets.
Printing Shop Riot: The mob burns down the printing shop, firemen respond, yet they are sympathetic to the mob, and have no intention of fighting the blaze, instead protecting the neighboring buildings. After the building burns the mob attacks any pro-Union and anti-Servitude person they can find. The riot gradually dies down after this.
An investigation is launched, no rioters are arrested or imprisoned, the official city report on the riot blames the Unionist Ledger for printing a whole host of inflammatory articles, causing "many great upsets and much indignation within the general populace". The Unionist Ledger goes out of business.
In a sense of popular irony, an anti-Union newspaper purchases the husk of the Unionist Ledger's former shop and rebuilds it into one of their own printing works. A fact which humors many of the rioters.
