The following events took place in 2,000 BBY. This year was also referred to as GDY 1 in the Zarkanian Ducal Calendar.

- The Hameshaws Comet strikes Kelvia in the Big Explosion
- Yufukuna Tharm celebrates his 334th birthday on Planets Naboo and Iridonia.
- The war against Moloch ends, and the surface and inferno of Yavia begin to intermingle. Magma towers and Quake towers are first on the surface of the planet.
- Zarkano-Eastland War: Final war of the Zarkanian Unification Wars, Duke Athelstan Zarkan VII of the Duchy of the Zarkan Bay invades and defeats the Duchy of Eastland, the easternmost realm of the tribal Zarkania. All of Zarkania finally comes under the rule of the Zarkan Bay duchy.
- Foundation of the Grand Duchy of Zarkania under Grand Duke Athelstan Zarkan I, Athelstan adopts his personal emblem, the White Dragon, the national personification of Zarkania, as the national emblem, the emblem is put onto a red field, becoming the first Zarkanian national flag, and later both the Royal Standard of the later Zarkan Kingdom and the Presidential Standard of the Confederate States of Earth.
- Zarkanian Unification Day: Athelstan I has a great celebration laid on to celebrate the final end of the Unification Wars, mass banquets are put on in the streets, prayers of thanks are given in giant congregation, and spectacular military parades occur across the Grand Duchy, observed by an overjoyed and raucous populace amidst an outpouring of Zarkanian nationalism and pride.
- End of the Tribal States period and start of the Grand Ducal era.
- In celebration of the founding of the Grand Duchy of Zarkania Athelstan I devises a new calendar, this calendar, known as the Zarkanian Ducal Calendar, has the founding year of the Grand Duchy as its epoch - years prior to the foundation are suffixed "BGD" (Before Grand Duchy), whilst years after are prefixed "GDY" (Grand Ducal Year). This system, though officially replaced by the Zarkanian Calendar in 1,000 BBY with the establishment of the Zarkan Kingdom, remains in use with Zarkanian traditionalists even beyond 0 BBY.
- Zarkan City is established on the southern end of the Zarkan Bay, the first residents are followers of Athelstan I who build homes and businesses near to the castle of their duke. The newly established capital replaces the earlier capital of Dukesby-on-Sea, on the northern end of the bay.
- The first Castle Zarkan is built on Castle Hill, looking over the rest of Zarkan City below. This first castle is a wooden motte and bailey castle, which will burn down and be replaced by a new stone castle in 1,492 BBY.
- Northern Conspiracy: A secretive pro-independence group of Northern Zarkanian nationalists in the Lordship of the North makes a deal with the Kingdom of Nuckerby, the southernmost kingdom of the Westland Quadrarchy, to assist them in regaining their former Duchy of North Zarkania in exchange for payment and occupation of conquered lands of Nuckerby's choosing. This deal effectively persuades Nuckerby to invade the Grand Duchy.
- First Zarkano-Westland War, the Kingdom of Nuckerby invades neighbouring Zarkania, and is soundly defeated, Nuckerby is not assisted by the other three kingdoms of Westland.
- The outbreak of the First Zarkano-Westland War sees the start of the Zarkano-Westland Wars, which shall run occasionally until 847 BBY, the Zarkano-Westland Wars see ten wars between Zarkania and Westland, and no less than seven uprisings against Westland's rule of the Zarkan Colony.
- The Monix system is discovered and colonized by Humans.
