Twenty years ago today, 29 August 2005, Neomessiah founded the Star Wars Fanon wikia. What started with, in his words, "a thirteen year old with delusions of grandeur" has since become what Neomessiah and the other early contributors envisioned: a home for Star Wars fanon and fan fiction, for fans old and young. It's one of the top thirty largest wikis and the largest devoted entirely to fan content.

None of this could have happened without SWFanon's users. Whether you've written a thousand articles or only made one small grammar correction, whether you're the oldest of old-timers or just made your account yesterday, whether you're an EU purist or a Disney devotee, you are part of our story, and we are all fanoneers together. As our motto says, "Imagination is more important than knowledge", and I'm perennially impressed by the creativity of this community.

I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the many Bureaucrats and Administrators who came before me, from those fighting a daily, high-octane battle against vandals while finding our footing as a community in the early years, to those who faithfully steered the ship during our quieter lulls. Special acknowledgment to SavageOpress1138, the Bureaucrat who trained me for the role, and Sebolto, my strong right hand who brings more technical expertise to the table than I'll ever possess.

It's a privilege to serve as Bureaucrat of this community and do my small part giving back for everything SWFanon has offered me and every other fanoneer. I'm glad to share this little corner of the internet with you all, and in twenty more years, I hope to still see SWFanon inviting new generations of Star Wars fans to imagine and create in that galaxy far, far away.

I'm new, I hope I'm okay

Not going to give this too much preamble, but once upon a time, we used to have short story contests to see what the freshest and best narratives were on the wiki! We're giving that another go this year with the [[Star Wars Fanon: Short Story Contest/2025|2025 edition of the contest]]. Nominations are open until 4 October so get to writing and I look forward to seeing what people come up with!

I'm new here, I write lots of lore but I'm too self conscious to add it to this wiki. I always enjoy modifying canon to make it better. There's links on my profile but who knows how long they'll last before I change my mind and delete them.

Insert usual, I hope we all get along and I look forwards to interacting with the community stuff here.

Yargh, lotta reading stuff just to figure how I should do what, lol. Haven't done this much reading since school-

Anyways I'm not always great at translating lengthy articles into information in my mind, plus I've never made or edited an article before, so some of these questions might've answered in the Layout Guide and Manual of Style stuff, but...

• Do I need to have pages for all/any of my characters? I don't have lengthy things for them, just some decent doodles of how they look, short equipment list, a few words for personalties, skills, and traits, and most of them only have maybe a paragraph or two in terms of backstory (usually just enough to know what they're like).

• Not entirely sure just HOW to format my stories. None of them are even close to novel-length, the longest ones are no longer than maybe 10 pages on a Google Doc (which is how I write them so I can copy/paste them to where I want them later), and the shortest ones are maybe 3 pages. If anything, they're all different "chapters" in a larger story that I haven't 100% figured out. Plus, they're not always gonna in consecutive order, since I sometimes jump around the timeline a bit as I get new ideas for story stuff. I have several completed "entries" (as I call them) spanning across 19 BBY to 6 BBY at the latest, but I'm working on several other "entries" that take place in various years in between 19 BBY and 15 BBY.

Okay, less questions than I expected to have (so far), just mores words than expected. Oops. Oh well.

I'm not tipically one for intros, but I think I could benefit for one on this wiki, lol.

My main reason for checking this place out is because I wanted to find another platform to share my little writing things for my Star Wars-set OCs- a few Jedi, several clones, with a few other random ones in between, though I focus on one Jedi in particular.

Might take me a bit to navigate this wiki and get my stuff out, there, but I'll figure out. I wouldn't exactly call my stuff "fan fiction" though- I don't quite feel right labeling it as such, since my stuff neither affects the larger universe or messes with canon characters/events too much. At most, I only mess with canon characters in really small roles or I'll borrow an Inquisitor for a quick thing (my stuff takes place between 19 BBY-0 BBY area).

Also, I sometimes jump around the timeline a bit with stories, because I come up with different things at different times, lol.

Who is interested in writing an alternate version of the preguel trilogy where qui-gon etc live and order 66 doesnt happen while fixing and expanding the aforementioned trilogy including adding scrapped canon/legends material into it with multiple chapters as a free request for me?
